Performance in Education: Curriculum Development-Moral and Obedience
Curriculum Development: Moral and
Obedience
Introduction
Moral and obedience is the beginning of
wisdom and a student that shows respect to teacher tends to learn. This paper
focuses on curriculum development, impact of technology and effective delivery
of curriculum. The concurrent distribution of bad behaviours among youth around
the world has been a concern. The society has deteriorated and youth are
defiant to instruction.
Curriculum
Development
The
components of curriculum development include statement of objective or goal, number
of lessons or units, list of recommended learning materials and journals. A
curriculum on moral and obedience must cover certain grade from elementary to
high school. Glatthorn, et al (2006) stated that is a statement of principles guiding
curriculum development and an argument for any new course is an important step
in developing parameters of curriculum project (p.198).The process of
developing a new course must involve the contribution from teachers, parent, principals
and school superintendents and curriculum developers.
Moral and obedience must be a course that will
be taught at a specific grade, such as grade 3 to grade 9. At grade 9, student
will learn how to behave very well at workplace and also let them know the
importance of punctuality and respect to co-workers. Tovar et al (2012) stated that
the steering committee formed a subcommittee, a composed of community partners
and academic researchers to design the nutrition and physical activity
curriculum (p.198). A group of curriculum development experts are responsible
to design curriculum that serve all course including nutrition, moral and
education.
The Impact of Technology on
Curriculum
Technology implementation has greatly
impacted curriculum both negative and positive. Technology has greatly increased
work performance by using computers and other equipments that are not available
1950.Sclafani (2002) stated that in 1950, roughly 20 percent of U.S. jobs were
professional positions, 20 percent required skilled labour, and 60 percent
required only unskilled labour (p.44). Technology has boost production on a
larger scale and company can manufacture quality products. The negative impact
of technology includes the media, television, mobile phone and internet. Students
that watch bad movies and violence on television will always tend to behave
aggressively to other student. Most students always like to use calculator for basic
mathematics and that is not helping the student to really utilize mental abilities.
Technology should only enhance student ability to perform complex task. Glatthorns
et al (2006) stated that students must be successful employing technological
advances to facilitate processing of information in meaningful ways (p.218).Technology
has made it easy for curriculum developers to design and update curriculum all
year round. Newton (2011) recognized that curriculum development is a dynamic
and ongoing process in institutions of higher learning (p.184). Technology is
needed to maintain regular update of curriculum.
Effective Delivery of Curriculum
It is necessary for federal and state
government to provide necessary resources to support the delivery of curriculum
to student and teachers. Nygaard (2008) argued that staff requirements, teaching
methods, ways of examining and evaluations will be different as the learning
context changes (p.39). Better teaching methods and qualified teachers are
important for the implementation of curriculum
Conclusion
This
paper has greatly discussed the concept of curriculum development, impact of
technology on our society and effective delivery of curriculum. Curriculum
development must be a collaborative joint effort of the federal and state
government in order to succeed.
