Gender Inequality in The United States

Gender Inequality in The United States
Introduction
This paper discusses the issues of gender inequality in the United States, the role of women in politics and business. Gender representation in the society and violence against women will also be discussed in this paper. Women need better wages and gender bias in income earning will be evaluated.
Gender Representation in the Society
The gender representation in the society has been based on bias and misrepresentation of women and that has been a great concern to federal and state government. Ames (1996) stated that class, class divides people, divides women. Our class of origin affects how we live our lives, no matter how different our class. Position may be later in life (p.159).There is a general believe that women should be relegated to take care of kids and home and that has been changed in recent years due to technological advancement, occupation and gender education.

Women Facing Human Rights Abuse
Women should be treated with dignity and respect because they are our mothers, sisters and daughters. Fulcher (2002) stated that violence against women is a violation of women physical and mental dignity as well as her freedom of movement, and as such is a grave infringement of woman human rights (p.17). For many years women have faced different abuse that includes rape, domestic violence and sexual harassment both at home and workplace. Edwards (2008) argued that the path to equality, violence against women has been and continuous to be clear obstacles to women enjoyment of other human rights in particular their rights to be treated with equality with dignity (p.3).The impact of violence against women is enormous and that has affected their job performance and cause emotional disturbance.
Women in Politics and Business
There is dramatic change in women leadership and some women leaders like Hilary Clinton and Condolence Rice have held different political position in the United States that include New York Senator and Secretary of State respectively. Banks and Banks (2005) stated that on average female college graduate of any racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, ability group still earns less than a white male with a college degree (p.142). In business and politics, men have preferential treatment than women; men earn more income in business and workplace.
This kind of discrimination against women has greatly affected productivity and economic growth. I see a woman as an intelligent being, patient and decision maker that can change world.

Conclusion
This paper has greatly discussed the impact of gender inequality in the United States. The role of women in politics and business has been emphasized and the women contribution to human development and economic growth has been enormous in recent years. The issue of gender misrepresentation has been a concern to develop and developing countries and government are trying their best about inclusion of women in all arms of government.
