Code of Conduct at Google And Intel Corporation


The two companies that will be examined in this paper are Google Inc and Intel Corporation; they are both multinational corporations with assets over a billion dollars.

             This paper investigates the code of conducts of Google Inc and Intel Corporation and the impacts on stakeholders which includes shareholders, customers and employees. Furthermore, this paper reviews how the code of conduct reflects values, law and company’s policies. Introduction

         Intel Corporation has business operations in Taiwan, China (Including Hong Kong), and the U.S. Intel headquarters is located in Santa Clara, California. It employs over 78,000 employees. The company develops advanced integrated digital technology products, primary integrated circuits, for computing and communications industries (Datamonitor, 2010). Intel Corporation has a standard guideline for code of conduct that all employees and other stakeholders must obey.   

          Google Inc was founded in 1998 by two Americans Larry Page and Sergey Brin and headquartered in California. Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful (Google, 2013).Google had built a search engine website and that has benefited the whole world.  A code of conduct has been greatly be respected at Google Inc.

 

The Code of Conducts of the two organizations

          The code of conducts at Google Inc and Intel corporations has a standard guideline for rule of regulations which every stakeholder including employees and customers should abide with. Our users value Google not only because we deliver great products and services, but because we hold ourselves to a higher standard in how we treat users and operate more generally (Google, 2013). Google Inc has great respect for rule of law and code of conducts and that includes integrity, usefulness, respect each other, avoid conflict of interest, privacy, security and freedom of expression, preserve confidentiality, anti-bribery laws, obey the law, avoid personal investments with Google competitors and protect Google’s assets.

          Intel Corporation makes it a priority for all stakeholders to respect code of conducts. The code of conducts at Intel Corporation includes honesty, integrity, anti-trust law, insider trading, treat each other fairly, avoid conflicts of interest, protect the company’s assets and reputation, import and export compliance and keeping accurate financial and other books and records. The code of conducts at Intel Corporation is really more extensive than the one at Google Inc because it covers the aspect of moral values, financial and government regulation.

 

Code of Conducts and Values

        The code of conducts has been respected greatly at Google Inc and Intel Corporation and has given the two organizations great values around the world. Google Inc makes it a priority to respect privacy, security and freedom of expression of customers and other stakeholders. Preserving that trust requires that each of us respect and protect the privacy and security of that information (Google, 2012, p.4). Google Inc respects the privacy of all stakeholders around the world and that makes the organization a global leader in internet search engine. Google will fight to protect its privacy at all costs (Vise, 2006, p.22). Google Inc has gained the confidence of customers and users around the world.

     Intel Corporation has strong values that reflect the company reputation around the world and that can be seen in the company’s code of conducts such as treat each other fairly, by being honest and open to all employees and coworkers. Intel Corporation maintains a workplace that is free of harassment and bullying.

The Impacts of Laws and Policies on Code of Conducts

           Antitrust law and bribery and anti-corruption are code of conducts at Intel Corporation and that reflects laws and policies. It is a crime not to be loyal employees at Intel Corporation and every employee must not engage in any form of fraudulent activities that includes bribery and corruption. Antitrust laws, sometimes also called competition laws, govern the way that companies behave in the marketplace (Intel, 2013, p.3). Intel code of conducts abides by the law of the country.

          Google Inc make it a priority to obey the law of the land.Some Google code of conducts greatly reflects laws and policies that includes ensure financial integrity and responsibility, prevention of violence and anti-bribery laws

Code of Conducts into Action

       The implementation of code of conducts at Intel corporation and Google Inc has greatly delivered overwhelmingly result and that has help the organization to boost its reputation around the world. Google has created a great place to work for their employees and quality of products and services offered by Google Inc met customer satisfaction. Google Inc dog policy has encouraged many employees to bring their pet to workplace.

At Intel Corporation, employees were encouraged to conduct business with honesty and integrity; this can be achieved by keeping financial statement or records.

The Ramification of Violations of Code of Conducts

       There are consequences for violation of code of conducts at Google Inc and Intel Corporation that include warning letters, suspension, criminal charges and termination of an employment. Google Inc took all measures to avoid criminal charges around the world and not to violate code of conducts. Google was accused of violating an important human right to freedom of expression and information (Brenkert, 2008, p. 458).Google Inc moral obligation to respect code of conducts and image of the organization at the global level. Every employee at Intel Corporation understands the consequence of violating the code of conducts which can lead to termination of employment.

 

The Influence of Code of Conducts on Decision Making

          The code of conducts at Google Inc and Intel Corporation has helped the two organizations to make decisions that will protect all stakeholders. Google Inc encourages employees to report any violation of code of conducts. Google prohibits retaliation against any worker here at Google who reports or participate in an investigation of possible violation of our code (Google, 2012, p.2). Google has maintained transparency among employees to report any unethical behaviour that will damage the reputation of the organization.

        The code of conducts at Intel corporations affected employee and non-employee and that is only way to maintain equality among stakeholders. The code also applies to our non-employee members of the Board of Directors with regard to their related activities.(Intel,2013).All stakeholders at Intel corporation must obey the code of conducts.

        This paper has greatly investigated all the components of code of conducts at Google Inc and Intel Corporation. The impacts of code of conducts on values and policies at Google Inc and Intel Corporation have been examined.
